This zingy winter citrus smoothie is tart, light and refreshing. Perfect for breakfast or a snack!
For those of you who live in the Central Texas area, you know that cedar pollen has been outrageous for the past two weeks. Every year around this time, a nasty little thing called cedar fever hits Austinites with a vengeance. Up until this year though, I hadn’t personally been affected. Oh boy, have I been hit this year. Basically, as soon as Bud and I landed in Austin after the holidays, I’ve been sniffling, sneezing and coughing. While there’s no actual fever associated with cedar fever, it’s still basically a cold. No fun.
Because I’ve been sick, my senses of smell and taste have been dulled. Not a great thing for a food blogger! Or for people who like to taste their food. Luckily, I’ve finally found something that I can taste and it’s this zingy winter citrus smoothie.
I’m partnering with Wayfair and sixteen other bloggers today to bring y’all some wonderful smoothie recipes. Since the winter season is abundant with citrus, I couldn’t help but include some in my smoothie. This winter citrus smoothie is packed with plenty of citrus – it has oranges, clementines and pomegranates! The final product is just slightly sweet and plenty tart.
I decided to give this smoothie an even bigger nutritional bump with the addition of ginger and turmeric. While I’m no nutritional expert, both give the smoothie an added boost in nutrients. Plus, ginger is a wonderful flavor to pair with citrus!
I’ll be drinking this winter citrus smoothie for the next few days in the hopes that I can start feeling a little better soon! Do you have a favorite go-to smoothie recipe?
